Structural steel beams and columns with welded end plates, drilled connections, and painted finish.
Steel was managed entirely through our yard process and prepared for scheduled delivery following final inspection.
Medium complexity due to multiple fabrication stages, inspection points, and strict adherence to approved drawings.
Project Overview
This project involved the fabrication of structural steelwork for one of our regular customers. The client required accurately fabricated steel beams prepared in line with approved drawings and ready for delivery to site. A clear approval process and tight turnaround were key priorities. Our in-house teams managed the project from material intake through to final inspection. The Challenge
The main challenge was ensuring full compliance with the approved drawings while maintaining efficiency across multiple fabrication stages. The project required coordination between saw, fabrication, welding, drilling, and inspection teams. Accuracy was critical, as all components needed to align perfectly on site. Maintaining clear job identification throughout the process was also essential.
Our Approach
Design & Planning
Drawings were issued to the customer for approval and went through one revision before being formally signed off. Our in-house draughtsman provided a detailed cutting list aligned with the approved drawings. Once approval was confirmed, materials and workshop scheduling were planned immediately. This ensured a smooth workflow with no delays between stages.
Fabrication
Raw materials were delivered to our yard the following day and unloaded using a fork truck by our trained team. The saw team checked all steel against the cutting list before cutting to size. Cut steel was clearly marked with the correct job number and transferred to the fabrication shop. Steel ends were cleaned, prepared, and tacked with end plates before being fully welded to specification by our welding team.
Delivery & Installation
All welding and drilling were inspected by our in-house inspector to ensure accuracy and compliance. Holes were drilled by the drilling team and checked again for precision. The steel was then shot blasted and painted to the required finish. Following painting, a final inspection confirmed job numbers, beam references, and alignment with delivery notes, leaving the steel fully prepared for delivery.
“ Once again, the steelwork was delivered exactly as specified, with excellent quality and clear attention to detail throughout the process. ”
