MAH Steel - Services

Onsite Steel Fabrication

Onsite fabrication is often the fastest and most practical way to deal with steel once it’s on site. At MAH Steel, we provide onsite fabrication and welding across Kent, London, and the South East, helping keep projects moving when adjustments, repairs, or last-minute changes are needed.

Not every job goes exactly to plan. Sometimes steel needs to be adjusted on site to fit the structure properly, or issues only become clear once everything is in place. Instead of sending materials back to a workshop, we come to you and get it sorted there and then.

Our onsite fabrication service is commonly used for:

  • Adjusting steel to fit exact site conditions
  • Carrying out remedial steelwork and repairs
  • Fixing issues from previous suppliers
  • Making modifications to beams and connections
  • Supporting loft conversions, extensions, and structural alterations

We work directly from your engineer’s drawings or measurements, making sure everything fits as it should and performs correctly once installed.

To carry out this work safely and efficiently, our team arrives fully equipped with professional onsite tools, including:

  • Mobile welding equipment
  • Cutting and drilling tools
  • Site-ready fabrication equipment
  • Lifting and handling support where required

This allows us to complete most adjustments without delays or the need to move steel off site.

Onsite fabrication also helps reduce costs and downtime. By completing work where the steel is already located, we avoid extra transport, reduce handling risks, and keep your project moving without unnecessary delays.

If something isn’t right on site, we can step in quickly. We regularly help builders and contractors resolve unexpected issues, whether it’s a small adjustment or more complex remedial steelwork.

We provide onsite fabrication across Kent, London, Essex, Surrey, and Sussex, supporting projects of all sizes with practical, reliable solutions.

If you need onsite steel fabrication, MAH Steel can get it done safely, accurately, and without holding up your build.

Onsite Fabrication Questions & Answers

Onsite fabrication is often used when projects require flexibility, precision adjustments, or reduced transportation of large steel components. This section explains how our onsite fabrication services operate, covering typical processes, site setup, safety considerations, and how in-situ work supports accurate installation and efficient project delivery.

See all our FAQs

When is onsite steel fabrication necessary?

Onsite steel fabrication is necessary when structural steel components cannot be fully manufactured off-site due to access limitations, complex site conditions, or when final adjustments are required during installation. It is often used for tight access projects, structural modifications, or when precise fitting is needed on existing structures.

What types of steelwork can be fabricated on site?

We carry out a range of onsite fabrication work including cutting, welding, drilling, and adjustments to structural steel beams, columns, and connections. This allows us to adapt steelwork directly on site to ensure a precise fit where conditions may differ from initial drawings.

Why is onsite fabrication used instead of workshop fabrication?

Onsite fabrication is used when steelwork requires final adjustments or when transporting fully fabricated components is not practical. It allows flexibility during installation, ensuring structural steel fits accurately within existing buildings, extensions, or restricted-access environments.
