Project scope

With our head office located next to the Dartford Crossing, we’re ideally positioned to supply steel fabrication services to Essex, Kent, London and surrounding areas. This particular steel fabrication project in Kent was located pretty close to our workshop. From the get-go this was a very complex project with an extremely tight programme. It was not made any easier due to the start date being just before the Christmas break. We had few setbacks along the way because of the weather condition on site. We were tackling high winds, rain and even snow, but for MAH Steel these conditions weren’t challenging.

Behind the scenes

To get to the stage where we are ready to manufacture, there is a lot of hard work put in behind the scenes.

The process starts with the design team drafting drawings and modelling the structure on our 3d Tekla programme. On this project we also were asked to take on the steel connection design based on the loading provided by the engineer. Once detailed, this was then sent off to the engineers, architects and client for approval.

Once approved, we then start on the all-important fabrication. The steel is fully processed, cut, drilled and fabricated as per the fabrication drawings into the various components. Depending on the application, the fabrication process may also include additional treatments such as shot blasting and priming.

After that, we’re moving to the next stage: the delivery and installation. This particular job was located literally just around the corner, in Kent next to our steelworks factory, so it went smooth and easy.

Last But Not Least

Finally, the fabricated steel components can be delivered and installed in the desired location on site by our experienced install team!

As you can see from the photos, this was challenging and most days the site was completely flooded or covered in snow.

However, the job was singed off and handed over to the client ONE week ahead of the completion date, which made them very happy!
