Project scope

Another project awarded to us by one of our regular clients. This was a steel project for Palmarsh Primary School near Folkestone and Hythe. We are Kent-based steel fabricators, so this area is practically on the doorstep from our steel workshop. As a result, it’s not just quick and efficient steel fabrication, but also speedy delivery – every time.

We worked closely alongside the client on this one to understand the entirety of the project and exactly what’s required.

So, once the client signed off the drawings, we then moved on to getting the material rolled to the required shape.

The steel was then delivered to our yard. This way we could get the ball rolling to meet the delivery date for the customer.

It was then taken to the saw by fork truck placed on rollers for cutting. It is marked to length by our sawman, cut to size, and placed on fabricators bench for fabrication. The fabricators can then start fabricating the steels to the drawing provided.

Next steep is steel finishes. This time we used powder coating.

Powder coating is a dry coating process which is applied as dry powder through an electrostatic process, then cured with heat. It is well known for providing high-quality finishes in terms of both functionality and overall look.

The powder coating finishes are not only sturdy but flexible as well. It can be used on different surfaces, including metal, concrete, steel, and plastic. It’s suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications, and it’s one of the most cost-effective steel finish options.

Steel painting and other finishing touches

Once the steel has been fabricated, it’s then sent into our trusted powder coating company for the all-important finishes. In this case ‘RAL 4007’ Purple was the colour choice.

Stainless steel can be finished with paint, powder coat, or IronArmor. Colour is the main purpose for coating stainless steel.

Once checked off by a quality control manager, it then gets loaded onto one of our Hiab lorries by the fork truck, ready to be delivered to site ready for the client to install.
