MAH Steel provides HIAB lorry crane steel delivery and lifting across Kent and London, operating from our Gravesend base. Our lorry-mounted cranes (HIABs) are designed to deliver and position steel safely, even in tight or restricted access sites.

Structural steel isn't always delivered to an open loading bay. On many London and South East projects, the only practical place for a beam might be over a property, into a rear garden or directly towards the installation area. With reach up to 30 metres, our fleet is capable of lifting over buildings, into rear gardens, and onto rooftops – ideal for challenging sites where standard delivery isn't possible. We achieve 98% on-time delivery, helping keep site teams working without delays.

MAH's fleet includes 15m, 22m and 30m reach vehicles with fly jib capability. Reach is a fleet option, not a guarantee of lifting capacity at that distance: the vehicle and the lifting arrangement are discussed against the actual load and site conditions. All vehicles are equipped with modern crane systems and maintained to strict safety and performance standards.

Getting steel into position

London deliveries are not always straightforward. Narrow roads, tight turns, restricted access and confined working areas need more than a standard drop-off. MAH's experienced drivers work with the project team to plan how steel can reach the right location. Our own HIAB-equipped lorries offer options for lifting steel over buildings, into rear gardens and towards upper levels. Vehicle access, load weight, reach, ground conditions and a suitable lifting arrangement all need checking for each job.

Choosing a 15m, 22m or 30m HIAB

Our team considers the load, proposed vehicle position, required lift distance, ground conditions and access restrictions. Reach does not equal lifting capacity at every distance, so the appropriate crane and lift must be assessed for the individual job. Each reach option is described above, and the same fleet delivers across Kent and London.

Safety and standards

All operators are ALMI trained and regularly assessed, ensuring every lift is carried out safely and professionally. Our fleet is maintained and inspected to ensure reliable, compliant operation on every job.

Planning for access

Let us know about narrow roads, parking restrictions, overhead obstructions, slopes or work areas behind the building so we can discuss a feasible delivery. Share your site postcode and the offload position when you ask for a quote, and photographs can be useful when explaining difficult access.

Before the lorry arrives

Please confirm the delivery address, access restrictions, proposed offload area, obstructions and who will be on site. We may ask for site photographs or drawings. Any access permissions, safe working areas and coordination with the installation team should be agreed ahead of arrival.

Steel and delivery together

Fabrication, loading and transport are coordinated as one steel package, reducing unnecessary hand-offs between separate suppliers. Beams and frames from our structural steel fabrication can be loaded and lifted by the same fleet, and who installs the steel is agreed for each job, with steel erection available where it forms part of the order. We cannot promise an urgent delivery or crane slot, but we will do everything reasonably possible to help and explain what is achievable. MAH can also discuss a combined quotation for steelwork and crane-assisted delivery, subject to the scope and the proposed lift.
