A multi steel frame for a residential project in Bromley, placed in the front garden by Hiab

Project overview

A customer in Bromley needed a fabricated steel frame, described on the page as a "multi steel frame". We turned the job around quickly from our Gravesend workshop, just across the M25.

Work delivered

Fabrication

When the steel arrived at our yard our quality control team inspected it for defects, and our fork trucks moved it into the factory. It was sawn to the project's cutting list and checked by our quality assurance team. In the fabrication area the cut ends were cleaned and marked for drilling, and the end plates and connecting plates were tack-welded into position. The drilling team drilled the holes to the engineering drawings and our welding fabricators welded the steel to the engineers' specification. Our quality control team reviewed the welding and drilling again.

Finish and delivery

The frame was blasted and painted to a precise thickness, then hung in our yard to dry. The loading team checked every piece against the specification, and the bolts, nuts, washers and packing plates were added as the steel was loaded onto one of our Hiab lorries. The driver delivered it to the site and placed it where the customer wanted it: in the front garden.
