Project scope

This steel fabrication project in London required some fabricated steelwork. Well, this is what we do at MAH Steel!

Following delivery of the special type of fabricated steel by our trusted London steel supplier, our brilliant loading team offload all pieces and lay them out in the yard. Transferring it over to the saw, our cutting and saw operators thoroughly check the cutting list to the required measurements. Using the latest technology and their skills, they cut all the necessary steel accurately to the finest millimetre. To ensure the correct cut lengths are achieved, the end must be cleared up and squared off before steel cutting. With all preliminary checks complete, it’s time for transportation to the saw!

Once the material has been cut, we then transport it by forklift to the steel fabrication area. Here’s when our experienced structural steel fabrication team steps up to start the project. But before they begin, our in-house inspectors check all materials for quality control. Our workshop manager then issues job tickets and Tekla drawings, and only after that our experienced steel fabricators start working!

After manufacture, the work is checked again to confirm the right holes are drilled and the beams with end plates line up.

Finishing touches

It is then taken to our paint shop to be painted. The final step in the steel manufacturing process, steel finishes are not just supposed to look stylish and pretty, but also provide environmental protection. So, manufactured steel gets sent off to the painting booth, and gets painted to the required specs. This time we used our zinc primer – this type of steel finish ensures better adhesion to the surface, increases paint durability, and provides additional protection to the steelwork. Usually we use it before painting with other paints as a perfect base coat.

Once again, in the end our fabricated steel was checked by the loading team. They have to make sure that all steel is correct to the delivery notes, and then it gets loaded onto one of our crane lorries and delivered to the site. Once all components have been checked at delivery, the job is then signed off. Another happy customer, another stellar MAH job done!

This company is very quick, helpful and very easy to deal with. The delivery was perfect on time, which kept local interruption to minimum. All together – excellent!
