MAH Steel – expertise in structural steel fabrication

For this project, we fabricated and delivered the structural steel required for a rear extension in Grays, Essex. The client provided initial details, and our team produced detailed drawings for approval. Once the plans were confirmed, we got started on the manufacturing process.

We selected steel from stock, checking each piece against the cutting list before sawing it to precise lengths. The steel sections then moved to the fabrication area, where our team verified the dimensions before beginning fabrication. Our coded fabricators worked exactly to the approved drawings, ensuring each section met the required engineering specifications.

Our in-house QA team inspected the fabricated sections at multiple stages, confirming adherence to project requirements. The steel was fully welded to specification, and the drilling team created the necessary connection points. Another round of quality checks ensured that every hole, plate, and joint aligned perfectly with the engineer’s specifications.

With fabrication complete, we moved on to the blasting and painting process. The steel was blasted and coated with zinc phosphate primer at the specified micron thickness before being hung in the yard to dry. Once dry, our QA and loading teams performed a final verification to confirm every detail matched the project instructions.

Bolts, steel-to-steel fixings, nuts, washers, and packing plates (where required) were added before loading the steel onto our 30-metre hiab lorry. Our driver completed a final safety check before setting off for an early morning delivery. On-site, he set up the hiab crane and carefully positioned each steel section exactly where the client needed it—including lifting one piece over the back of the house.
