For this particular project, a loft conversion in DA7, the client needed fabricated steel craned directly onto the roof space. Once the fabrication details were agreed, we got straight to work. From our large in-house stock, the right steel sections were selected and transported for cutting. Each piece was checked against the cutting list before being sawn to precise lengths. Accuracy is everything in this line of work, so before fabrication began, our team measured again to ensure every cut was spot on.

The steels were then fabricated exactly to the engineer’s drawings by our skilled coded fabricators. As always, our in-house QA team inspected the work at each stage, ensuring it matched every requirement. Drilled and welded, with plates fitted to exact specifications, the steels went through another round of checks to confirm that all holes and fittings aligned perfectly.

Once approved, it was time for blasting and painting. We applied a zinc phosphate primer at the exact thickness required, measured in microns, before leaving the steels to dry in our yard. Even at this stage, the QA and loading teams double-checked everything to guarantee nothing was overlooked.

By 5am the next morning, the steels were loaded onto our 30-metre Hiab lorry, secured by our driver, and delivered straight to site. From there, we craned them right over the house and into the loft space – exactly where the client needed them. Another smooth, efficient, and precise job completed, ready for the builder to carry on without a hitch.
