At MAH Steel, we recently had the opportunity to support a residential extension project in South East London that perfectly demonstrated the efficiency and precision of our structural steel fabrication process. The client reached out to us with detailed requirements for fabricated steel beams that would support the structure of their new extension. With tight access to the rear of the property, the project also required a Hiab lift to position the steels safely on-site.

Thanks to our large and well-maintained stock at our Kent facility, we already had the required steel sections on hand. As an experienced steel fabricator and supplier, speed and accuracy are part of our daily routine. Our team moved quickly to begin processing the order. The correct steel profiles were selected from our extensive inventory and transported by forklift to the cutting station, where our skilled saw technician precisely cut the beams to the exact specifications provided by the customer. Every measurement was double-checked to ensure accuracy from the very first step.

Once cut, the steel was moved to the fabrication bay, where the real craftsmanship began. Before any welding took place, the team verified all measurements once more. We then cleaned the steel ends and began attaching end plates and other necessary connections. As with all our fabrication work, close attention was paid to detail – holes were drilled with absolute precision, and every weld was carefully aligned to match the customer’s design exactly.

Step-by-step structural fabrication with full quality control

Our team ensured that each stage of the structural fabrication process met our high standards and the expectations of the client. With the fabrication complete, we moved into the finishing phase. The beams were sand-blasted to remove impurities and prepare the surface for coating. After painting, the steel was given time to dry thoroughly before being re-inspected by our workshop manager.

All required fixings – bolts, nuts, washers, and packing plates – were added and checked off against the order list. This particular job was flawless, with zero defects reported throughout the entire process. To complete the service, we loaded the beams onto our 30-meter reach Hiab lorry, perfect for tight-access sites like this one. Our driver secured the load and delivered the steel directly to the customer’s home, lifting it over to the rear of the property exactly where it was needed. This seamless delivery saved time and made the installation process easier for the builders on site.
