Project Overview
MAH Steel was commissioned to fabricate and supply the structural steelwork required for a residential loft conversion project in Kent. The works formed part of a major home improvement and property extension programme designed to create additional living accommodation within the roof space while maximising the property's value and functionality. Our involvement included the manufacture of several bespoke structural steel beams required to support the new loft structure, floor loading requirements, and altered roof configuration. Accuracy, quality fabrication, and dependable delivery were essential to ensure the installation programme remained on track and the wider construction project progressed efficiently. Working closely with the homeowner, building contractor, and structural engineer, we coordinated every stage of the project to ensure all fabricated steel components met the required specifications. Through careful planning and communication, we delivered a complete structural steel solution that enabled a smooth installation process and contributed to a successful loft conversion project.The Challenge
The property was located within a residential area of Kent where access restrictions and limited working space presented logistical challenges. The steelwork required precise fabrication to ensure it integrated seamlessly with the existing building structure and complied with the structural engineer's design requirements. A further challenge involved lifting the steel components safely into position at roof level. To overcome this, a specialist 30 metre reach HIAB crane was utilised, allowing materials to be delivered and positioned efficiently without unnecessary handling on site. The customer also required a fast turnaround to maintain momentum on the build programme. Meeting tight deadlines while maintaining fabrication quality and delivery accuracy was critical to the overall success of the project.

Delivery & Installation
We assessed site access arrangements in advance and developed a delivery strategy centred around our 30 metre reach HIAB crane service.
