The population rose from 6,217 in 1911 to 72,791 in 1961 as the Metropolitan Railway brought suburban house building, so most of the housing is suburban rather than city-centre terraces. From Kent the principal route is the M25 to the M40, which continues as the A40 Western Avenue; the A40 has junctions with the A4180 towards Ruislip and Heathrow and the A437 for Hillingdon, Ruislip and Ickenham.

A lift over a house or into a rear garden is something the HIAB is built for, with 15 m, 22 m and 30 m (with fly jib) reach confirmed per job, and the lorry's position is agreed with you beforehand.
