Supplying fabricated steel for a triple goalpost frame extension in Brentford

Recently, one of our regular clients contacted us with a request for a fabricated steel triple goalpost frame for a structural extension. Thanks to our ongoing relationship and proven track record, the client was confident in our ability to deliver. They promptly sent over the general arrangement (GA) drawing for approval. Once they gave the green light, we immediately got to work and moved the order into production without delay.

Fortunately, the required steel sections were already available in our stock. As soon as our workshop team acknowledged the order, we swiftly selected the steel and transported it via forklift to our cutting area. There, our team carefully checked each piece against the cutting list before precisely sawing them to the specified lengths.

Following the cutting phase, we moved the freshly prepared lengths to our fabrication bays. There, both our fabrication team and quality assurance personnel conducted another round of checks — confirming all measurements, finishes, and that the material was ready for the next step. Once everything was verified, we began preparing the ends of each section and attaching the appropriate end plates and connections.

Throughout the fabrication process, accuracy remained a top priority. Our welders performed all necessary drilling and welding with precision, carefully following the specifications to ensure each component aligned exactly as required. Additionally, we carried out thorough checks at every stage to maintain consistency in alignment, structural strength, and overall reliability — especially important for a goalpost frame, which must bear a significant load and meet exacting standards.

Surface prep and finishing touches

Once fabrication was complete, we moved on to surface preparation. Our team sandblasted each piece to remove impurities and create the perfect surface for priming. After priming, we suspended the steel sections in our yard to dry thoroughly before the final inspection.

Before we loaded anything, our QA team conducted a comprehensive visual check. They confirmed that all pieces matched the original specification, all fittings were complete, and the finish met our quality standards. We added all necessary fixings — bolts, nuts, and washers — to the package, ensuring everything was ready for a smooth install on site. Not a single defect was found.

Finally, we loaded the fabricated steel onto our 15-metre Hiab lorry. Our driver carefully checked the load to ensure it was secure and site-ready. With everything in order, the truck set off for an early delivery. On arrival, the steel was craned directly into position — right where the customer needed it.
