Project scope

Havering has become a popular area for home improvement projects, with many homeowners extending and modernising their properties. For this project, our long-term client needed structural steel for a rear extension – a simple framing job that still required careful planning and precise fabrication to ensure a smooth installation.

After discussing and agreeing on all fabrication details with the client, our team moved swiftly into production. Steel was selected from our extensive in-house stock and transported to the cutting area, where each length was checked against the cutting list before being sawn to size. Our experienced saw operators ensure every cut is clean and accurate – the perfect foundation for what follows.

Once cut, the steel sections were moved to our busy fabrication area. Here, our coded steel fabricators – certified professionals trained to the highest welding standards – began assembling the frame according to the confirmed drawings. Every beam and plate was double-checked by our in-house QA team to ensure the steel met the engineer’s exact specifications.

The next stage was welding and drilling, carried out precisely to plan. Each hole and connection detail was verified so that everything would line up perfectly on site. Once fabrication was complete, the steels were sandblasted and painted with a zinc phosphate primer – providing durable protection and a professional finish.

Before dispatch, both our QA and loading teams performed one final inspection to confirm everything matched the drawings. The finished steelwork was then loaded onto our 30-metre Hiab lorry, secured, and set off for an early 5am delivery. Thanks to expert coordination, our driver and crane operator successfully positioned the steels right over the back of the customer’s house – exactly where they were needed.

Another job well done for everyone involved, and another satisfied client ready to enjoy their new extension.
