Project scope

When one of our long-standing customers got in touch about their latest residential extension in West Sussex, we were ready to get moving. They needed a full package of fabricated steel components – drawn, cut, welded, finished, and delivered fast.

The project began with on-site measurements supplied by the customer, which our design team quickly converted into detailed fabrication drawings. With every beam and connection clearly specified, production could start without delay.

Because MAH Steel keeps a large and varied stock of structural sections, we were able to pull materials straight from inventory. The steel was selected, moved to cutting by forklift, and passed to our saw operator – a man who lives by the phrase “measure twice, cut once.” Each cut was checked against the list before moving on to fabrication.

In the workshop, our fabricators confirmed all dimensions before welding on end plates and connections. Every joint, every hole, and every finish was inspected to ensure the steels would fit perfectly on-site. Once the welding and drilling were complete, the steels were sandblasted and painted to a smooth, durable finish.

After drying in the yard, the components underwent one last quality inspection. With everything signed off and additional fittings – bolts, nuts, washers, and packers – packed and labelled, it was time for delivery.

Our 30-metre Hiab truck made short work of loading and lifting the steels into place once on site. Thanks to precise planning and seamless communication between our design, workshop, and logistics teams, the entire process – from confirmed measurements to final delivery – took just three days.
