Project overview
A loft conversion in Lewisham, close to our workshop in Gravesend, needed fabricated steel. We received the order from the customer and the steel was delivered to our yard by our supplier.
Work delivered
Fabrication
Our loading team offloaded the steel and it went to the cutting department. Our cutting and saw operators checked the cutting list and cut the steel to the required measurements, cleaning up and squaring the ends. A forklift took it to the fabrication area, where our workshop manager issued job tickets and Tekla drawings. Before our fabrication team started, our in-house inspector checked the material, and after fabrication it was checked again to make sure the beams lined up with the end plates.
Finish and delivery
The steel was taken to our paint shop to be fire painted, and the paint thickness was checked. The loading team checked everything against the delivery notes before it was loaded onto one of our crane lorries and delivered to site. On this job the steel went up to the scaffold.
