Newmarket Office Project

A returning client recently approached us, requiring 128 galvanised steel support posts to reinforce existing fencing at a Newmarket site. Because the client had previously experienced MAH Steel’s competitive pricing and rapid delivery firsthand, they again entrusted us with this precision fabrication project. The specification called for 152x152x23 UC (Universal Columns) – a robust profile ideal for structural support. We sourced the necessary steel sections from our trusted wholesale supplier, ensuring the material met the exact project grade and strength specifications. Upon delivery to our Gravesend-based workshop, our experienced sawmen team promptly handled the columns.

Our manufacturing process prioritises precision and durability. Specifically, our qualified sawmen, trained for accuracy and efficiency, cut each universal column to length in-house using our industrial band saws. This ensured consistent cutting tolerances and uniformity across all 128 units. After cutting, the posts underwent custom drilling to create hanging holes – a crucial step for the client’s planned installation method. We precisely positioned and deburred these holes to prevent snagging during galvanising and final handling.

To ensure long-term durability against the elements, we then shot blasted the columns to remove any mill scale or contaminants. This process enhances the adhesion of the zinc coating applied during the galvanisation stage. Consequently, we dispatched the steels to a certified third-party galvaniser, where they underwent hot-dip galvanisation to provide a protective layer against corrosion – ideal for long-term outdoor use.

Project Outcome

Upon their return from the galvanisers, our team efficiently loaded the completed columns onto one of our branded flatbed lorries, ready for scheduled site delivery. Thanks to our efficient logistics team, the delivery was on time and hassle-free, ensuring a smooth transition to the installation phase.

The client successfully installed the steel columns on-site, completing the fencing reinforcement as planned.
