COMMERCIAL STRUCTURAL FABRICATION
Thames Tideway Tunnel on behalf of ArcelorMittal Kent Wire
For the past 2.5 years, MAH Steel worked alongside ArcelorMittal. Our team supplies various fabricated steel sections for this complex Thames Tideway project. Altogether, every piece of steel is CE marked and approved to EN1090-2.
ArcelorMittal is the world’s largest steel producer. As of 2018, their annual crude steel production was 92.5 million metric tonnes. Currently, London relies on a 150-year-old sewer system built for a much smaller population. As a result, millions of tonnes of raw sewage spills into the River Thames each year. Due for completion in 2025, construction is happening across 24 sites in London.
Unquestionably, there are some very intricate welding and fabrication needs on this project. Alongside this is a lot of bespoke fabricated steel sections ordered directly from the mill. ArcelorMittal has worked on the Central and Eastern sections of the project. Interestingly, they deliver steel to the project sites via barges from Chatham Docks. This allows for an easily, effortless delivery compared to by road.
During this period we supplied more than 10,000 tonnes of rebar and structural steel fabrication. MAH Steel are proud to work with one of the largest steel manufacturers in the UK. Undeniably, it’s an honour to provide our steel welding and fabrication expertise to this huge, historic project.
Our specialist fabrication team provide expert steel welding services as well as architectural metalwork.
At MAH Steel we’re capable of producing any structural steel fabrication element, providing high-quality fabrications to domestic and commercial sectors.
