Bespoke cranked steel to fit inside existing steelwork, to a 1mm tolerance, in Brighton

Project overview

We received a very specific request, in the form of a drawing, to create a bespoke cranked steel for a project in Brighton, East Sussex.

How it was made

Drawings and fabrication

We sent the sketch to our drawing team, who drew the steel and sent it to the customer for approval. Once he approved it, our drawing team issued the fabrication drawings. Our cutting and saw operators cut the steel to the required measurements and angles, and our fabricators then fabricated it to the exact detail.

Finish and delivery

The finished steel was checked again, painted in our paint shop, and checked for paint thickness. The loading team checked it against the delivery notes, and it was loaded onto one of our vehicles and delivered to site exactly where the customer needed it. He installed the steel himself.

Outcome

• The customer fitted the cranked steel himself and sent us photographs of it in place, saying "Love it when a plan comes together!"
