Project scope

Although we provide residential steel to projects across Kent, London and the South East, we’re also a steel supplier for other areas, including Guildford.

This time we received drawings from a couple – Jake and Karen, so we provided them with a quote.

They accepted our quote, so we were instructed to start working. The next stage was sending a drawing for approval to our customer.

Steel fabrication process

Once our customer approves our drawing, we then move onto the next stage which is fabrication drawings. It allows us to know exactly what we have to do and how it all goes together.

After this stage is over, we go to the yard to make the magic happen!

We issue the steel fabrication pack to the various departments of the yard. Our cutting and saw operators check the cutting list and cut steels to the required measurements.

Once we cut the material, it’s then transported by a fork lift to the fabrication area ready for our experienced steel fabrication team to start the project.

Before our fabrication team start, all material is checked by our in-house inspector. Our workshop manager issues job tickets and Tekla drawings.

Once the project has been manufactured it is the checked again to make sure the right holes are drilled and the beams with end plates line up.

Next step is the delivery process, because we’re not just steel fabricator, but also a steel supplier. For this delivery the access was tight, so we had to work smart.

The Delivery

So, the fabricated steel has to be loaded on the relevant vehicle.

For this delivery the access was tight, so one of our crane lorries wouldn’t have been able to do the job. We had to use one of smaller fleet vehicles to deliver the steel to exactly where our customers needed it.

Finally, steels with the other building materials are ready for the builder to do his bit!
