Steel Used:
The frame comprised S355 structural steel including UC203x203x46 columns, UC152x152x30 columns, PFC 180x90x26 and PFC 150x90x24 channels, UB178x102x19 beams, SHS100x100x10 members and bespoke curved fabricated sections. Selected steelwork was hot-dip galvanised for durability.

Delivery Approach:
Steelwork was delivered using a 22m HIAB crane lorry. Large curved sections were safely lifted directly into position by HIAB operator Danny Powell, minimising site handling and installation time.

Project Overview
MAH Steel supplied the structural steel frame for a bespoke steel-framed outbuilding on Hayesden Lane, Tonbridge. The project features distinctive curved roof rafters together with conventional structural members shown on the GA drawings. Jamie Poole managed the project from drawing approval through fabrication by Steve Winter and final delivery.The Challenge
The combination of bespoke curved members, conventional steelwork and galvanised components required careful coordination. Transporting and positioning the large curved sections safely on a restricted site demanded detailed planning and the correct lifting equipment.
Our Approach
Design & Planning
Fabrication drawings were obtained, reviewed and approved before manufacture commenced. Jamie Poole coordinated the project with the client while ensuring workshop information was complete. Production sequencing was planned so painted and galvanised steelwork arrived in the correct order.
Fabrication
Steve Winter fabricated the structural frame using the approved drawings. The project incorporated bespoke curved sections together with UC, UB, PFC, SHS and RHS members shown on the GA. Selected items were galvanised to provide long-term corrosion protection.
Delivery & Installation
Delivery was completed using MAH Steel's 22m HIAB crane vehicle. Danny Powell operated the crane, lifting the curved sections directly into their installation positions from the lorry. This reduced manual handling and supported an efficient erection programme.
