Project Overview
MAH Steel was appointed to fabricate and supply structural steelwork for a residential extension in South East London. The project formed part of a home improvement scheme designed to create additional living space and open up the existing layout. Our responsibility was to ensure all steel elements were manufactured accurately and delivered in line with the build programme. We worked closely with the client’s builder and structural engineer throughout the project.The Challenge
The project required accuracy which was critical to ensure the steel could be installed smoothly by the main contractor. Tight timelines also meant fabrication and delivery needed to be well coordinated.
Our Approach
Design & Planning
We reviewed the structural engineer’s drawings to confirm steel sizes, connection details, and tolerances. Early coordination with the main contractor helped identify access limitations and delivery requirements. All steel elements were scheduled to align with the overall build programme. This planning reduced the risk of delays or on-site issues.
Fabrication
All steelwork was fabricated in our workshop using certified structural steel in accordance with project specifications. Bespoke connection plates were prepared to ensure accurate alignment during installation by others. Each component was quality-checked for dimensional accuracy before dispatch. This ensured the steel arrived on site ready for immediate use.
Delivery & Installation
Steel was clearly labelled to assist the contractor with identification and sequencing. Care was taken to ensure safe offloading and positioning within the site boundary. This approach supported a smooth continuation of the build works.
