Project overview
A completely new customer in Sittingbourne, Kent, needed steel for an office extension. First they asked us to provide drawings for approval. Our drawing office took the dimensions from the customer and we produced several revisions before issuing the final drawings.
Work delivered
Fabrication
Some of the steel was in stock and some had to be ordered, which is usually next-day delivery, so we could process the job quickly. Our fabricators cut the steel to length and checked it in the fabrication area with the fabrication team manager. The fabricated plates were tack-welded into place and the steel passed to our welding team. Our in-house quality assurance team checked the fabrication, then checked the welding and drilling again to confirm the holes, plates and specifications were met and lined up.
Finish and delivery
The steel was shot blasted and painted. Before loading, the quality assurance and loading teams checked it, and added the steel-to-steel fixings, bolts, nuts, washers and packing plates. It was loaded onto our 15-metre Hiab lorry, as it was an offload to floor, and delivered to site and placed where the customer needed it: on their yard floor.
We are a new customer of MAH Steel, and we have found the process to be a thoroughly pleasant experience and will certainly be sending more work their way. Very professional and easy to work with.
