Project overview
A long-term client asked for a series of cranked roof beams and other bespoke steel elements for a complex commercial structure in Oxted, Surrey. Speed and accuracy were key.
How we did it
Quote and drawings
Our estimating team quickly sent a detailed quotation, and once it was approved our drawing office began work on the fabrication drawings. With multiple angles and crank points to consider, our draftsmen detailed every beam, connection and plate for production.
Fabrication
Once the drawings were signed off, the steel sections were ordered from our wholesalers and delivered to our workshop, where each section was checked on arrival and cut to length to the approved drawings. Our fabricators assembled each component to the drawings, and our in-house QA team checked the hole positions, plate sizes and weld details.
Finish and delivery
The steels were primed with a zinc phosphate primer applied at the correct micron thickness and hung in the yard to dry. Bolts, nuts, washers and steel-to-steel fixings were added, and the load was checked by our driver and secured onto the lorry. Early the next morning, the delivery was on its way to site, ready for installation by the client's team.
