Project scope

When our long-term client, reached out about their latest project, we were delighted to get involved once again. This time, they required a series of cranked roof beams and other bespoke steel elements for a complex structure – and as always, speed and accuracy were key.

Our estimating team responded quickly with a detailed quotation, and once approved, our in-house drawing office began work on the fabrication drawings. With multiple angles and crank points to consider, our draftsmen ensured every beam, connection, and plate was clearly detailed for production. This stage is where precision meets practicality – the better the drawings, the smoother the build.

Once the drawings were signed off, the required steel sections were ordered from our trusted wholesalers and delivered straight to our workshop. Each section was checked on arrival before moving to the cutting area, where our operators cut the steels to length according to the approved drawings.

Next came fabrication – the heart of the process. Our coded fabricators – qualified welders whose certification ensures every joint meets structural safety standards – assembled each component exactly to spec, ensuring that every connection lined up perfectly. Throughout fabrication, our in-house QA team performed regular checks, confirming that hole positions, plate sizes, and weld details met both engineering and customer requirements.

When fabrication was complete, the steels were moved to our blasting and painting area. For this project, we used a zinc phosphate primer applied at the correct micron thickness for lasting protection. Once painted, the beams were carefully hung in the yard to dry fully before handling.

With the finishing process complete, our team prepared the steels for dispatch. Bolts, nuts, washers, and steel-to-steel fixings were added, and the load was thoroughly checked by our driver before being secured onto the lorry.

Early the next morning, the delivery was on its way to site – ready for installation by the client’s team. Everything fitted perfectly, thanks to the detailed preparation and checks throughout production.
