Rear extension steel for a new customer in Surbiton, lifted over the house into the garden

Project overview

A new customer in Surbiton, in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, contacted us for the steel for a rear extension.

How we did it

Fabrication

We selected the structural steel sections from our stock and our cutting team sawed each piece to the cutting list, re-verifying every measurement before fabrication began. In the fabrication shop the measurements were reviewed again and the steel was welded and drilled to the approved structural drawings. Our in-house quality assurance team checked each stage, including hole positions, weld quality and alignment with the engineering requirements.

Finish and delivery

The steel was protected with a zinc phosphate primer, applied by our painters to the engineer's specified thickness, and left to dry in our yard. After a final check against the drawings, the loading team added the bolts, steel-to-steel fixings, nuts, washers and packing plates. The steel was loaded onto our 30-metre Hiab lorry that evening and left at 5am. By the time we arrived in Surbiton everything was in place, and we lifted the steel sections right over the house and into the garden.
