Project overview
A customer asked for a quote on fabricated steel supply for new workshop engine mounts. They accepted our quote and we started work immediately. The customer had already provided drawings, so the job went directly to the yard for manufacture.
How we did it
Fabrication
Our cutting and saw operators checked the cutting list and cut the steel to the required measurements. Once the lengths were checked, a forklift took the steel to the fabrication area. Our in-house inspector checked all the material before the fabricators started. The cup was milled from the solid billet, and the rest of the steel was fabricated to the customer's drawings.
Delivery
When the steel had been fabricated we checked it again against the specification and took it outside to be loaded onto the correct vehicle. On site, once the steel had been checked and the job signed off, we placed it directly into the new workshop, so the customer could install the engine stands.
Outcome
- Steel placed directly into the new workshop for the customer to install the engine stands
We used MAH Steel for the first lot of stands which went in perfectly as planned. So, when we needed more there was only one choice.
