The beautiful town of Sevenoaks is conveniently located only a stone throw’s away from our steel workshop in Kent, Gravesend. Due to our perfect location we’ve proudly made a name for ourselves as a leading Kent steel fabricator and the swiftest steel supplier for London, Essex and the whole South East. This was a steel fabrication project for our regular customer. They needed a steel frame fabricated, delivered and installed to the site.

Our journey started with getting structural steel for the project. All steel used at MAH for projects undergoes meticulous scrutiny. Our trusty fork trucks offload it carefully. So, the steel is ready for the next step, which is steel cutting. During this process, structural steel undergoes a series of checks against the project’s cutting list. Each cut is a precision move, ensuring the steel’s length is correct up to the finest millimetre before undergoing a final verification from our brilliant QA team.

The Fabrication Process

The cut lengths then embark on their transformation in the fabrication area. One of our experienced steel fabricators ensures the exact cut length has been completed before the fabrication process starts. After that, comes the preparation of cut ends. The fabricator cleans them and marks for drilling. After that, the end plates and connecting plates should be expertly tack-welded into position. The fabricated steel undergoes more intense scrutiny, with the drilling team drilling holes according to engineering drawings. The steel is then passed to the welding fabricators who weld the steel to the engineer’s exact specifications.

With commitment to precision, our team re-examines the welding and drilling to guarantee strict adherence to the engineering drawings. Thus ensures every hole, end plate, and fabrication specification is executed correctly.

Furthermore, the fabricated steel undergoes a visual transformation. It goes through the blasting and painting processes using precise paint and thickness requirements. Then we hang it in our yard to dry.

Steel Delivery and Installation

Last but not least, the loading team takes centre stage, ensuring that every piece of steel aligns with the notes. Bolts, nuts, washers, and packing plates (if required) are added as the steel is carefully loaded onto one of our hi-ab lorries. The experienced driver then conducts a final check before delivering the steel to the construction site, precisely placing it where the customer wanted it. After all, the steel is ready for the installation next to the house.
