Project overview
Following the structural engineer's specifications, our team manufactured each steel component to the required dimensions before arranging delivery directly to site. Our 30m HIAB crane provided the reach required to lift the fabricated steels over the property and directly into the roof space, helping to minimise manual handling and speed up the installation process.
Close coordination with the builder and structural engineer ensured the steelwork was fabricated accurately and delivered when required. This allowed the installation team to work efficiently and helped keep the loft conversion on programme.
Our approach
Design & planning
We began by reviewing the structural engineer's drawings and confirming the required beam sizes, cranked sections, connection details and installation requirements. Detailed fabrication information was then prepared to ensure each component was manufactured accurately and ready for installation on site.
Fabrication
Due to the restricted nature of the London property, we planned the delivery around the capabilities of our 22m HIAB crane. The extended reach allowed the steelwork to be lifted over the property and positioned directly into the loft area, avoiding unnecessary manual handling and reducing disruption at ground level.
Delivery & installation
By combining accurate fabrication with specialist delivery and careful project coordination, MAH Steel provided a complete structural steel solution designed around the requirements of the loft conversion.
Outcome
Bespoke cranked steel beams
