Project overview
A regular customer contacted MAH Steel on a Wednesday needing fabricated steel for a loft conversion in Brighton, East Sussex, with a Hiab lift on the Friday.

Fabrication
We selected the steel from our stock and took it to the saw, where our quality control team checked the beams against the cutting list before they were sawn to length. In the fabrication area the cut lengths were checked again, then fabricated and welded. Our quality assurance team checked the welding, punching and drilling to make sure the holes, plates and fabrication specifications were met and lined up. We also cut and prepared spreader plates in our plates area, ready to join with the main job.
Finish and delivery
The steel was blasted and painted, then hung in the yard to dry. After a visual check by the quality assurance and loading teams, bolts, nuts, washers and packing plates were added, and the steel was loaded onto our 15-metre Hiab lorry for an early start. It was delivered to site and placed where the customer needed it, right at the Brighton seafront.
Outcome
- Steel in place by Hiab at the Brighton seafront, for a lift booked two days after the order
