Fireproof finishing and seamless steel delivery

After we completed fabrication, our team moved the steel into the blasting and painting phase. For this project, we applied a 30-minute fireproof paint coating – a standard requirement in many loft conversions. We used calibrated equipment to apply the correct paint thickness in microns, then left the beams to dry properly in our yard.

Once the paint cured, our QA and loading teams conducted a final round of checks. They confirmed all fabrication matched the order and engineering drawings. Then we gathered everything needed for the installation, including bolts, nuts, washers, steel-to-steel fixings, and packing plates. We always make sure the delivery includes every detail to keep things moving smoothly on site.

Finally, our team loaded the steel onto one of our 22-metre HIAB lorries. Our driver ran through a thorough safety check, then hit the road for a 5 a.m. start. Once on site in St Albans, the HIAB lifted the beams directly onto the roof, placing the steel exactly where the builders needed it – saving both time and labour.
