Steel fabrication for Thanet

MAH Steel fabricates structural steel at our Gravesend workshop in Kent for building projects across Thanet, including Margate, Ramsgate, Broadstairs, Birchington and Westgate-on-Sea, on a chalk peninsula that was an island until the Wantsum Channel silted up, with delivery by lorry-mounted crane (HIAB) via the A299.

The steel travels by the M2 to its eastern end near Faversham and then the dual-carriageway A299, the north coast route into Thanet. The A28 links Canterbury and Ashford to the island. Thanet is mostly soft chalk, and the flat marshland of the former Wantsum Channel flooded in 1953, when the area was cut off for a few days.

The main bays include Minnis Bay, Palm Bay, Botany Bay, Joss Bay and Pegwell Bay. Alongside fabricated steel, MAH can weld on site across Kent, with mobile welding, cutting and drilling tools, and HIAB delivery gives a 15 m crane for tight access, a 22 m for the mid-range and a 30 m with fly jib for high reach, confirmed per job.
